Under the ‘DGU-HKIEd International Student Teacher Internship Program’, 10 student teachers from Dongguk University, Korea, paid a visit to and earned practical teaching experience at our School on 3rd and 4th December 2014.

On the first day of their visit, Mr. Raymond Wong, our Principal, welcomed all the student teachers and introduced our school and school-based curriculum to them at the Lecture Theatre. In the morning, they were invited to observe lessons taught by teachers teaching different subjects. In the afternoon, they were given a guided campus tour to experience our first-class facilities, which include our Fashion Centre, the Indoor Swimming Pool, Library & Learning Resources Centre, Multi-purpose Stadium and Gymnasium. They then joined a focus group meeting to exchange views on curriculum design with our teachers. After school, student teacher representatives also participated in a friendly football match competing against members of our school Football Teams.

On the second day, the student teachers shared about Korean culture in our morning assembly. They demonstrated how to play Korean shuttlecock. In the S2 Visual Art lesson, they were given the chance to draw on Chinese paper fans. In the S.5 English lesson, they had a discussion about ‘How Korean Culture Affects Hong Kong Teenagers’ with our S5 students in English. In the afternoon, they hosted a farewell session for our S4 students and teachers, in which our students learnt how to play traditional Korean games and speak Korean.

It was the first time for this group of Korean students to visit a DSS school in Hong Kong. This two-day visit provided them with invaluable opportunities to learn more about our enriching campus life and broadening curriculum. In the future, our school will continue to seek to create connections with overseas institutions and provide more opportunities for our students and teachers to learn more from our counterparts from different cultures.
