Lam Tai Fai College

The Lunar New Year Fair has become a tradition at LTFC. This meaningful event was held on the 5th of February this year. Each year, the Fair was organized with the goal of providing our students with a chance to apply their subject knowledge to real-life situations and extend their learning outside classroom. This year, we were honored to have Mr. Raymond Wong, our Principal, and Dr. Chong Chan Fung, our PTA Chairman to officiate the Opening Ceremony of the Fair. After the Ceremony, they toured around each stall to shop for fun products, ranging from monkey-related accessories to self-made toys. Products with Chinese New Year greetings printed on them were particularly popular.

In order to create a festive atmosphere in the school campus, each class was required to decorate their class lanterns and hung them along the corridors. All the classes demonstrated creativity in the designs of the patterns on the lanterns.

To prepare for the Fair, each class was assigned a stall and the Executive Committee of each class were required to submit a business proposal and a budget plan to the School one month before the event. In the preparation process, students were responsible for merchandising, logistics support, designing and decorating their stalls and product promotion. The whole process provided them with ample opportunities to brush up on their skills in self-management, co-operation, collaboration, communication and financial management.

Every student in the LTFC family enjoyed this unique experience of running a small 'business' on their own for one day. After the event, all the participating students have developed in them better business senses, as well as a caring attitude towards society, as all profits made will be donated to the Community Chest for charity.
